Privacy is a Human Right
Securing privacy and safety for all people within Extended Reality (XR) technology because currently no security standards exist.
What we do
Technology standards guide policy, governance, risk and compliance but the boundaries to inform do not exist for XR technology. The need for thoughtful direction as it relates to information security and personal privacy is needed now more than ever.
Secure-by-design, privacy by default and adherence to existing guidelines and frameworks (NIST, LINDDUN) are only the beginning. The United States has become the global hub for groundbreaking innovation. It should aim to be the foremost leader in XR technology worldwide.

Interactive bug bounty and offensive security events hosted in partnership with industry partners like Google, Meta, National Cyber League, MetaCTF, ThreatSims, and Red Team Village for hardware, software, and platforms. The end goal is to recruit the next generation of technical researchers as well as widen the talent pool by including diversity, equity & inclusion partners like Black Girls Hack, Blacks in Cyber, RAICES, Women's Society of Cyberjitsu, WiCyS and more.

Through our vast network of associations, like XR Association (XRA) and Women In Cyber Security (WiCyS), and key partnerships with national programs and agencies like Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and the Idaho National Laboratory's Cybercore Integration Center, XR Village functions as an industry connector to innovative global thought leaders, engineers, hackers, and consumers to share best practices in secure-by-design methods, consumer safety, privacy and threat modeling in the XR space.
Additional outreach includes partnerships with eSport engagements with US Cybergames, Wicked6, and National Cyber League, security and educational conferences with DEF CON, WiCyS, and the XRA's ARVR Policy Conference, and discovery partners sharing innovation, best practices and practical use of novel technology like the digital twin exhibition from Idaho National Labs and Pacific Northwest National Labs, securing all realities fireside chat with XR Village founder, Keenan Skelly and Suzie Borders of BadVR, and implications of augmented reality and mobile technical deep dive with mobile security expert Whitney Phillips.

Allies without action are a detriment. Being an ally is not just a day where a profile picture is changed, slogan included or digital walkout completed. Representation and inclusion have always been foundational in our approach and programs. As such we carefully select diversity, equity, inclusion & accessibility partners who do what their brand promises and proudly partner with groups like Black Girls Hack, Blacks in Cyber, RAICES, Women's Society of Cyberjitsu, and WiCyS to shape tomorrow's security workforce.

Origin
The stage was the largest hacker convention in the world at DEF CON 30, with a talk in a borrowed space, XR Village founder, Keenan Skelly, delivered an empassioned chat to a rapt audience about the future of privacy within extended reality (XR). The founding of XR Village as a non-profit, non-partisan organization to inform consumers, lawmakers and other related parties about the need for secure-by-design and privacy in XR was the natural next step.
As the primary voice for cybersecurity and privacy for all realities, XR Village grew beyond the initial vision and our team grew to include industry and community organizations, 3 new staff positions and our standalone village debuted at DEF CON 31. XR Village collaborated with Red Team Village, Adversary Village, Policy Village, ICS Village and VR Village as well as corporations and government like Idaho National Laboratory, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, Meta, BadVR, echo3d and industry experts in privacy, cybersecurity, and industrial control systems; using the motto: //it takes a village.
